The vision of Jana Seva Inc. is to bridge the gap between the urban and rural societies in India through access to education, health and livelihood opportunities. To achieve this, Jana Seva Inc. wishes to connect with donors and local beneficiaries, raise funds and support the development initiatives while empowering rural women and youth, and extending support tosafeguard Indian culture and tradition. Jana SevaInc. supports partners and non-governmental organizations and other social welfare-oriented organizations in India that would help in the efforts to realize the vision of Jana Seva Inc. in various sections of society.


Partner Profile

Society for the Development of Economically Weaker Sections (SODEWS)

K.S. Ramamurthy (Ramu uncle), a man with years of experience in finance, economic and social development, public administration and the capital markets spread across Africa and India returned home to India in 1999 and gave shape to the Society for the Development of Economically Weaker Section (SODEWS). This non-governmental organization was formally registered in 2004 although they were engaged in developmental activity in the fields of education, health, environmental and livelihood since 2000.
SODEWS focuses primarily on enhancing the quality of educational interventions at pre-school, primary and middle school levels. They work in 5 panchayat blocks in Vellore District in Tamil Nadu, India. Vellore district has a fairly large concentration of tribal population, many of whom are first generation learners.

SODEWS focuses on:

  • Reduce the gap between the urban and rural quality of living
  • Make villages self-sufficient to arrest migration to urban areas
  • Empower Women
  • Child Development
  • Keep on greening the areas where our activities are spread
  • Gradually remove superstitions, respecting the traditions of the rural people


 

Maithri Educational & Charitable Trust, Chennai

The Maithri Educational & Charitable Trust was started in 1991 with the aim of funding education for needy children. It also works on many projects relating to the differently-abled and those with chronic medical conditions. Maithri was set up by Rajaram Shreedhar in 1983 as a trust. Shreedhar wanted to support differently-abled people like him, in their educational pursuits. Soon his commitment expanded to include children from poor and broken homes.

Vani Niketan Sikshan Sansthan (VNSS)

Vani Niketan Sikshan Sansthan (VNSS) is a trust which runs the school, comprising a team of villagers from Netala, Uttarakhand. It is committed to providing quality education to children.The school has been in operation for over ten years now and is in need for fresh funds as the original funding source of the school had dried up. VNSS, the trust, approached Kanchi Kamakoti Seva Foundation (KKSF) and Jana Seva Inc. with an appeal for help. KKSF and Jana Seva Inc. has been supporting the Vani Niketan School since beginning of 2010 after much due diligence and learning how deserving these young souls were.

Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College, SRCC., Puducherry

Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College (SVRCC) is a leader in skills-training education which is committed to impart career-oriented, ethical value based, quality education that combines high technical standards, conceptual clarity and a practical approach at an affordable cost. It is located in Keezhputhupattu village, near Puducherry (About 120 km from Chennai in Tamil Nadu). There is a holistic approach to teaching in SVRCC, and the parents are involved closely to ensure their commitment and cooperation. The college has earned the recognition of being a model school and teachers from community colleges in India and abroad visit SVRCC twice every year. Nearly 200 teachers visit the college on a study tour each year under the aegis of ICRDCE . They closely observe the facilities, interact with teachers and students, to learn about the unique methodologies of SVRCC.
